The earth is flat and thus we follow that:

1. Growth can continue
    if it's:
  • different
  • green
  • immaterial
  • balanced
  • in services
  • efficient
  • technological
  • creative
  • inventive
  • optimistic
  • new deal
  • sustainable
  • qualitative
  • dematerialised
  • decoupled
  • genetically
       engineered
  • better
  • and quite generally

    2. Growth is needed:
  • for jobs
  • for the poor
  • against inequality
  • for the economy
  • for progress
  • for all what people
       want and need
  • for freedom
  • and quite generally

    3. There are still large
        resource stocks:
  • Minerals
  • Oil and gas
  • fresh water
  • and quite generally

    4. Technology, money, optimism and hope will:
  • restore destoyed
       nature
  • revive extinguished
       species
  • mitigate climate
       change
  • create more space
       and resources
  • and quite generally

    Therefore we, the members of the compact of Business, Politics and the discipline of Economics (BPE), solemny declare that the earth is flat and endless.

    So please don't worry. We are the authority. We care for you.
    Trust us
       the BPE compact!

    What hypothesis?

    That the earth is flat!
















    Uh.. What about all this evidence that refutes your preconceived conclusion?
    I just dismiss it as rhetoric by evil-doers who want to embolden the enemy.

    But if you just look over there, you can see for yourself that this isn't the edge of the earth... It's just a gully...
    So long as I don't look, my convictions hold true.

    I always wondered how cults and political movements get started.
    The trick is to be in on the ground floor
    NOW ACCEPTING ALL OF YOUR WORLDLY GOODS,
    NO QUESTIONS ASKED ... BY YOU.
    Dad: "You told your teacher that math was against our RELIGION?"
    Kid (Danae): "No, I said it was against MY religion."
    Dad: "Well – You can't arbitrarily invent a belief just because it suits your needs."
    Danae: "Oh, okay… So how did all the other religions get started?"
