Nous devons ouvrir nos yeux aux faits environnementaux et aux développements qui sont vraiment effrayants. Détourner les yeux ou espérer n'est pas une solution, évidemment.

Nous continuerons à discuter les thèmes importants et faire des analyses approfondies.
Le maximum de production (extraction) de pétrole sera au premier plan, parce que toute société moderne dépend de cette matière première. Ils n'existent pas d'alternatives, ni en quantité suffissante ni en qualité de utilisation multiple. On ne peut pas manger l'électricité, ni l'utiliser pour beaucoup de domaines qui dépendent du pétrole et ses dérives.

"Alle reden vom Wetter, wir nicht." Der Klimawandel ist zwar bedrohlich, aber es kann gut sein, dass die Folgen der maximalen Tagesproduktion an fossilen Energien - Peak-Oil - uns schneller einholen als die Überschwemmungen, Trockenperioden und Bergrutsche.
Wir reden vom Ölfördermaximum, weil es von der Politik, Wirtschaft und Medien weitgehend ignoriert wird, oder auch in die Zukunft verschoben.
Nach Ansicht vieler unabhängiger Spezialisten ist die Menschheit seit 2005 auf dem Produktionsmaximum angelangt. Auch die Internationale Energie-Agentur in Paris, die IEA, hat dies in ihrem Energiebericht vom November 2010 so dargestellt. Die Voraussagen, welche Erdölgeologen seit Jahrzehnten gemacht haben, haben sich ziemlich genau bewahrheitet.
Peak-Oil ... bedeutet auch das Maximum der Produktion von Gütern und Lebensmitteln, sowie das Maximum der Globalisierung.
Peak-oil means peak industrial production, peak food and peak globalisation, because there is no equivalent replacement for oil, neither in sufficient quantities nor in quality.
After the peak we will be on the downslope: Production and distribution of industrial products and of food will start falling, slowly at first but then with increasing speeds.
If we don't stop growing and start contracting instead, we will disappear in a black hole, onto the scrap heap of history...

Regretfully we have not only reached peak-everything, we have also overshot the Earth's carrying capacity, by far. Serious scientists estimate that this planet could possibly support less than one billion people, maybe 500 million, at a level of resource use that would resemble the standard of living of the middle ages, i.e. before 1700.
So, what now?
